József Egry
1883–1951 · Primera modernidad (fauvismo, cubismo, expresionismo)
Biografía
Because of Egry’s worsening lung disease the couple travelled to Italy for treatment in 1930 and 1938. As the works made there show, on the Italian coast too Egry studied the phenomena of water and light, but by his own admission the new experiences did not match the intensity of the Balaton experience. Since their second trip was financed by selling the press house and vineyard, they needed a new home. Their last home in Badacsony was built by 1941, and since 1973 it has housed the Egry Museum.
