Biographie
La Fée Electricité was one of Raoul Dufy’s greatest achievements in a varied artistic career in which, besides murals, he made paintings, book illustrations and textile designs. His large-scale work was preceded by an undertaking of similar scale: in 1927 he began a 1.85 x 15.25 m mural titled “Journey from Paris to Sainte-Adresse and the Sea” in the dining room of his doctor, Paul Viard. The work went badly, his attempts failed one after another, until finally in 1932 the picture came together in just three days.
